The Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa Ibom State chapter (NMA-AKS) is structured into three distinct zones, each with its unique characteristics and qualities. These zones are strategically designed to facilitate effective coordination, communication, and collaboration among members of the association who reside and practice in different areas of the state.

NMA-AKS is divided into three zones, namely the Uyo Zone, Eket Zone, and Ikot Ekpene Zone. Each zone represents a unique aspect of medical practice in Akwa Ibom, with a distinct set of challenges, opportunities, and strengths. Together, these zones serve as a platform for medical professionals to collaborate, learn, and share their experiences, ultimately working towards a common goal of providing quality healthcare services to all Nigerians.

Uyo Zone

The Uyo Zone is one of the prominent zones in NMA-AKS, comprising a large concentration of medical professionals who practice in the capital city of Akwa Ibom. The zone is known for its outstanding medical facilities, innovative medical research, and a diverse range of medical specialties. The Uyo Zone is home to some of the most prominent medical practitioners in the state, and it remains a vital hub for medical education, training, and practice.

Eket Zone

The Eket Zone, on the other hand, is a unique zone that comprises medical professionals who practice in the coastal region of Akwa Ibom. This zone is known for its rich cultural heritage and a vibrant community of medical professionals who are committed to providing quality healthcare services to their patients. The Eket Zone is notable for its unique medical challenges, including tropical diseases and water-borne illnesses, which require specialized medical expertise to address effectively.

Ikot Ekpene Zone

The Ikot Ekpene Zone is a thriving zone that encompasses medical professionals who practice in the northwestern part of Akwa Ibom. This zone is known for its unique blend of medical specialties, including traditional medicine, alternative therapies, and modern medical practices. The Ikot Ekpene Zone is home to a diverse range of medical professionals, including primary care physicians, medical consultants, and specialists who provide essential healthcare services to the people of the region.
